I am very interested and intrigued by the information on Celiac Disease that my sister, Amy, sent me.  It was information that I didn’t know, and, frankly, that I’d never heard of!  I thought it would be important to post this, in case there were some of you that hadn’t heard of Celiac Disease and maybe had some of these symptoms.

Celiac Disease is, basically, a digestive disease, where the body can’t tolerate Gluten

Here’s a list of symptoms in Adults:

  • unexplained iron-deficiency anemia
  • fatigue
  • bone or joint pain
  • arthritis
  • bone loss or osteoporosis
  • depression or anxiety
  • tingling numbness in the hands and feet
  • seizures
  • missed menstrual periods
  • infertility or recurrent miscarriage
  • canker sores inside the mouth
  • an itchy skin rash called dermatitis herpetiformis
  • abdominal bloating and pain
  • chronic diarrhea
  • vomiting
  • constipation
  • pale, foul-smelling, or fatty stool
  • weight loss

And, here are some other health problems associated with the disease:

  • type 1 diabetes
  • autoimmune thyroid disease
  • autoimmune liver disease
  • rheumatoid arthritis
  • Addison’s disease, a condition in which the glands that produce critical hormones are damaged
  • Sjögren’s syndrome, a condition in which the glands that produce tears and saliva are destroyed

I am very interested, because I have quite a few of the symptoms for this disease and one of the health problems associated with it:  Autoimmune Thyroid Disease.  What is even more interesting is, that, more than 2 million people in the U. S have this disease, and, it’s hereditary and could be past down from generation to generation.

If you think there is a chance you might have this disease, there is a simple blood test your doctor can do to diagnose it.  For more great information, please visit this website:

Thanks for the great information, Amy!!!
